The area around Gudvangen has been declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage area and Gudvangen’s operation is made in understanding and respect for the World Heritage area.
All of Gudvangen’s mining is done underground and all rock brought to surface is processed and shipped. There are no waste and no tailing deposits. The anorthosite products are used for applications with considerable environmental positive effects, like insulation to increase energy saving. Further, the excellent environmental quality of the rock is giving contribution to a better environment where it is used.
